"Sleepless In Norfolk" Continues

From the experience we've had in Norfolk, it would not make my “10 Best Nautical Attractions” list. Chicago can’t hold a candle to this “windy city!” Last night the noise from the wind, in the rigging, and from the fenders was so loud neither of us got much sleep. Winds were 15-26 knots, gusting to 30. The 1-2 foot white capped waves in the bay pounded against the side of the boat, tossing it around, jerking on the dock lines, and heeling us against the five fenders Bob put out. We were grateful to be at a dock rather than on a hook. Our tolerance for persistent rain and wind has been tested; this was our sixth day of foul weather.

On a brighter note, we've met some nice folks at the marina, had more than one ice cream, and I've had another entertaining laundromat experience! Last night we spent the evening watching an old movie neither of us had seen, “Titanic.”

We are eager to cast off in the morning for the ICW. We have our first four days mapped out on the charts, including marinas and anchorages.

We're keeping an eye on tropical storm “Noel” and hoping it goes out to sea as predicted.

Hi!This is my third attempt to send you a comment. We've been having trouble with our wireless internet but that is fixed but Google will not accept my password. We have thought about you so much over the past week with watching the weather and seeing the winds, storms and Noel.
We love reading your entries and being ale to see the pitures. What an incredible jouney and life adventure. All is well here. I'm into my sixth week with no weight on my foot. Lots of time in bed with foot elevated. Hopefully next Tuesday the pins come out and I will be able to begin to put weght onit. In the meantime, Bill has been wonderful in cooking and lovingly serving my every need. Oops here comes breakfast. More later, much love, Donna and Bill
